FAQ

What is a Bang?

A bang is a fan event where fanfic writers and fan artists create pieces together!
.

How does it work?
.
Each writer comes up with an idea for a fic and writes a pitch/summary. Artists will then blind pick from those ideas to make art!
.
.
The mod team pairs up artists with writers for their favorite ideas, and thus the creation period starts! Writers and artists will be given time to work on their ideas over a fixed amount of time.

What content will be allowed?
.
No content is banned in this event. All the content (yes, even problematic content) will be allowed. We will only require proper tagging and warnings.

Will minors be allowed in this event?
.
No, this event will be 18+ only.

What do I need to sign up?
.
We will only require an email address, a Twitter account and a Discord account. Additionally, writers will need an Ao3 account. If you don't have one, you'll need to get it before posting day.

On the schedule, there are two writer/beta check-ins before artists join. Why is that?
.
Due to the high WC requirements, we are giving writers a head start before pairing up with their artist partners!

Will you allow beta readers?
.
Yes, beta readers will have sign-ups just as writers.

What are the requirements for writers?
.
For writers, the minimum word count is 10,000 words (you are free to write more, should your heart desire). For every check-in, we expect writers to contribute 2K to their current WC. For example:
.
1st Check-In: Sept. 24-26 (2K/10K)
2nd Check-In: Oct. 29-31 (4K/10K)
3rd Check-In: Dec. 3-5 (6K/10K)
4th Check-In: Jan. 7-9 (8K/10K)
Final Check-In: Feb. 4-6 (10K finished!)

Do writers need to post 10K on posting day?
.
Writers are required to have 10K completed, but are not required to post 10K on post day. For example, you can post a 3-5K chapter on post day then the rest at a later time.

What are the requirements for Artists?
.
For artists, the minimum requirement is to create content that equal to 4 points based on the point system below:

Sketch, with some color = 1 point
Flat colors with line art = 2 points
Fully rendered/bg, shading, etc = 3 points
.
To reach the 4-point minimum, artists can make one (1) Fully rendered piece and a sketch with some color or a combination of any of the others to meet the 4-point goal.

The requirement for artists for each check-in is:

1st Check-In: Dec. 3-5 (35% complete)
2nd Check-In: Jan. 7-9 (70% complete)
Final Check-In: Feb. 4-6 (100% complete!)
